It’s time for Summer Reading! This year’s theme is Plant a Seed, Read. Children of all ages (with a caregiver) are invited for bubbles and cotton candy at the kick-off event: Bubble Blast! on Saturday, June 20th, 11:30 AM - 1 PM in the Library’s back garden, weather permitting. No registration is required.
Also on June 20th, the Pepperell Student Art Opening Reception will be held from 11 AM - 1 PM. Art made by students in K-12 will be on display through August 21st. Meet some of the talented young artists at the Opening Reception. Light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Lawrence Library.
Summer Reading Bingo, for adults and young adults, is also happening this year. Running from June 20th - August 14th, patrons can earn entry tickets for prize baskets by completing a bingo. And make sure you follow us on Facebook and Instagram, as bonus ticket opportunities will be popping up there!
And of course, the Children’s Room will be having a plethora of events all summer long. Check out our Events Calendar for a complete listing. A highlight includes the Playful Engineers program on July 8th for Grades K-5. It’s a STEM-focused workshop, in which participants design, build, test, and play with chain reactions and creative contraptions, like Rube Goldberg Machines, paper constructions, domino towers, exploding popsicle-stick snakes, and other awesome engineering explorations. This program is funded in part by a grant from the Pepperell Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Additional funding provided by the Friends of the Lawrence Library.
Our Summer Reading Program wraps up the second week of August, with our annual Tie Dye Party with Wicked Good Henna on Tuesday, August 11th (registration opens on July 14th) and the drawing of prize winners on Friday, August 14th.
