Looking for a way to relax? The library has you, and your child, covered! Join us for yoga and meditation classes this February and March and chill out.

 

On Thursday, February 27, from 10:30 AM - 11:15 AM, children can burn off some energy at Yoga & Hula Hoop Movement with Emma! We will explore possibilities with the hoop through games, dance, and movement. No registration is required.

 

Yoga for Everyone will be happening on Saturday, March 1 from 10:30 - 11:45 AM in the Art Gallery. Registration is required. This one-hour Kripalu yoga class will focus on uniting your mind and body by bringing your awareness to the breath. Beginning with a centering and breathwork and moving through a variety of yoga poses (asanas) this class will be accessible to all levels, offering up variations to allow you to listen to your body and choose what feels best for you. Class will end with a short relaxation and meditation and leave you feeling refreshed and balanced. Are you curious about yoga and wondering “Is yoga for me?” The answer is “YES” Yoga is for everyone. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one.

 

Explore mindfulness and yoga in our Mindful Slow Flow-Yoga with Frankie class on Tuesday, March 11 from 11 AM - 12 PM in the Art Gallery. In this yoga class, we will focus on core basic movements with high attention to the present moment—anyone from the seasoned to the occasional yogi will benefit. The overall themes for the class are self-awareness, acceptance, breath, gratitude, and self-compassion. Mindfulness is a way to break away from attachments, limits, and lack of awareness we experience in ourselves, and that is precisely our focus during this four-week intensive. The class will be in the style of a vinyasa slow flow, but the nuances of our mind will supersede everything else. The class will conclude with breathwork and a brief meditation to seal your experience. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one. Registration is required. 

 

Future Mindful Slow Flow-Yoga with Frankie classes will be held on March 18 and March 25 with registration opening on Saturday, February 22 at 12 PM and Saturday, March 1 at 12 PM respectively. 

 

On Tuesday, March 4, Anita McHugh will lead Meditation Workshop: Finding Peace with Uncertainty from 6:30 PM - 8 PM. No registration is required and no special equipment is needed. This class is suitable for both new and experienced meditators. Whether you're facing big life decisions or simply want to cultivate more ease with life's inherent uncertainties, this session offers both practical support and compassionate company along the way.
