Spooky Happenings at the Library!

October 7, 2024

Your favorite haunt-the library-is getting spooky this October! All month long, folks are welcome to explore our Not So Spooky Trail and Scavenger Hunt. The trail is open from dawn to dusk. Afterwards, you can view a scary movie via streaming service Kanopy during their Fright Fest.

On Tuesday, October 15 at 6 PM, Geek Girl, a.k.a. Sarah Hodge-Weatherbe, will be regaling us with tales of eerie and unnerving “Nefarious New England.” Please register to reserve your spot online or by calling us at 978-433-0330. Be warned: this program is NOT recommended for children.

For tweens, there’ll be a Halloween Take & Make. Take a library program home with you! Each kit includes a simple craft, bookmark, candy, and other goodies to enjoy at home. Please register to pick up the kit on Monday, October 21. Also for tweens, we’re having Tween Craft Night: A Candy Corn Pillow. Construct a candy corn pillow by assembling it through tying and stuffing techniques. Recommended for grades 4-6. Registration is required.

On Tuesday, October 29 join us from 6 PM to 8 PM for ALL HELLOs Eve: Say Hello to Your Past, Present, and Future. Get in the Halloween mood with us! Inside the library, there will be trick-or-treating. You can adorn yourself with henna, from Wicked Good Henna, or face painting, by Victoria, as well as enjoy some cotton candy! Receive a mini tarot reading with Marcia from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Teens and adults are invited to craft a spell jar, with Janina, and manifest what you wish for.

Also on ALL HELLOs Eve, Pet Medium Susan Mullen will talk about our pets on the other side during a half-hour presentation, no registration is necessary. Following her presentation, she will use her card deck for mini-readings with people who have a pet that has passed. Registration is required for a five-minute reading.

At 7 PM on ALL HELLOs Eve, Find an ancestor with Ancestry.com. Say Hello to an Ancestor with Ancestry.com! Free access to this genealogy database is only available in the library. Register to receive one-on-one help with using this amazing resource, and find information and maybe even photos from your family tree!

Registration is required for some ALL HELLOs Eve activities, so make sure you sign up at our event listing. Some activities (not included here) are already full with no waiting lists!
