For the Love of Music - free concert

January 27, 2026

Join us on Friday, February 13, at 7 PM when The Nissitissit String Quartet (NSQ) will perform at the Library. As William Shakespeare wrote, “If music be the food of love, play on.” The NSQ will offer its take on that intersection with the concert program ‘For the Love of Music.’

Four long-time colleagues and friends formed the NSQ to champion strings and enrich Northwest Middlesex communities. They had a mutual desire for fresh and fun performances that are engaging for a wide audience. With its signature range of styles - folk, jazz, pop, and more - the NSQ’s repertoire includes standards such as the Gershwins’ “Embraceable You” and Cole Porter’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and a Beatles set featuring “Something,” “When I’m 64,” and “All You Need Is Love.”

The concert will showcase many passionate musical masterpieces. Attendees can look forward to hearing Edith Piaf’s signature song “La Vie en Rose,” the endearing “Flower Duet” by Léo Delibes, and a medley from ‘West Side Story.’ Mixed in will be a set of Irish folk tunes and fancy fiddle fare, along with a few songs that are back by popular demand, such as “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Doors open at 6:30 PM for this concert, which is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available. This concert is funded in part by a grant from the Pepperell Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Additional funding is provided by the Friends of the Lawrence Library.
