This living history performance/concert will take place in the Albert Harris Community-Senior Center, 37 Nashua Street, Pepperell. The 1940s were the golden age of the American Songbook. WWII and the music from that era go hand-in-hand and, as one music critic wrote, “In a very real sense, American popular music was the popular music of World War II. The war was an emotional period and the songs tapped a reservoir of emotions: hope, longing, loneliness, and love.”
'Love Letters From The Front' will take you back in time to the war years of 1940-1945 when American GI's were sending off letters to their spouses and loved ones. This production by Wendee Glick and Bob DiCicco showcase some of those letters with songs from that era as a backdrop. Come take time out to honor those brave men and women who fought valiantly for our country during that tumultuous time. Funded by the Pepperell Cultural Council and Co-hosted by the Lawrence Library and the Albert Harris Community-Senior Center.
